Keeping Children Safe in Education. Updated September 2016.  This is essential guidance for all headteachers, teachers, staff and governors.  A summary can be found in Keeping Children Safe in Education Part 1 Information for all school and college staff.

Child Internet Safety

The UK Council for Child Internet Safety Education Group has developed guidance for school governors to help governing bodys support their school leaders to keep children safe online. The document includes examples of good and outstanding practice, as well as identifying when governors should be concerned.

Memorandum of Understanding between the National Society and the Department of Education

Statutory Amendment for maintained schools out now.

The government has passed new regulations for governors which come into into force on 18th March 2016

The Regulations state:

DBS checks and Governors:

By 1 Sept 2016 all maintained school governing bodies to have applied for enhanced check on all serving governors who do not have one.

By 1 April 2016 all maintained school governing bodies to apply for enhanced check on any newly appointed governor within 21 days of appointment

The Chichester Board of Education works closely with the governing bodies in our church schools and we are grateful for the time that our governors give to this important role.

We offer support, and advice covering a wide range of aspects of governance, particularly with foundation governors and their appointment.

We provide training for new governors as well as further training on specific aspects of church school governance.

We need your school's correct contact details.

Our contact details are only as good as the ones we are given. With the advent of Federations and new school email adresses we need your up to date information including Acting Heads, Head of Schools where there is an Executive Head etc.
